A camping hammock can be enjoyed at home

Ok it so the fourth of July and how are you going to enjoy it? I guess it might be a bit late to do a lot about it but if you still can there some interesting options. Since it is a long weekend many people feel it is necessary to get out of town. It isn’t an issue for me any longer since I live on the lake but why fight traffic for several hours and be in a crowd where ever you go. Why not have a camping hammock tied to two trees in your backyard and enjoy the peace and quiet.

I would suggest that watching some fireworks might be in order but that us a small price compared to driving for several hours. That is the nice part about a camping hammock. You can enjoy it in many places.

It is time to enjoy a camping hammock

This is the time of the year my grandchildren come up to visit me at the lake. The first thing they want to do of course is go fishing. After a couple of hours the subject of swimming comes up followed by the question can we put up the camping hammocks. Oops I forgot what’s to eat and did you remember chocolate ice cream and cones?

That is the nice part about a camping hammock. You can tie it to two trees and let the waves rock you to sleep. Not that I have ever really seen my grandchildren fall asleep but they do get a lot of books read. Now if I only could get them to put the camping hammocks away at the end of the weekend. Readers if you have any idea please let me know.

A bug nest can making your camping hammock more fun

I have written several articles about using a camping hammock to save on resort costs. An Eagles Nest hammock works great for that since it rolls into a small bundle fits into luggage easily. However, in Minnesota and many other areas the BugNest is a great addition. It will keep the insects away permitting you to enjoy your camping hammock experience.

One thing to keep in mind if you plan on sleeping in your camping hammock to save money. The weather in many parts of the country can change you might need to have alternate sleeping quarters. Remember electrical storms can be dangerous even if they are several miles away.

My wife and I do a fair amount of traveling and I have to admit I do like some creature comforts. I am a senior citizen after all. Things like a roof over my head and a bed to climb into at night. I don’t have a problem with a camping tent and air mattresses but I seem to require them. However, if I was twenty or thirty years younger a camping hammock might just be the thing. In Hawaii and elsewhere I have walked the beach in state parks and frequently found camping hammocks tied to trees. It was obvious that the owner spent the night in it.

Since housing is expensive in Hawaii I think it is a great idea to spend the night in a camping hammock. There are restrooms available in most parks so you have the opportunity to enjoy Hawaii and not break the bank.

A camping hammock can make you relax and save money

I ran a resort for a while after I retired from my day job. One of the things I observed was the different styles of vacations. Some came to me and asked where and what there was to do during the week and others just wanted to enjoy the lake. Those that need something special to do often left as frazzled as they came, while those that just wanted to enjoy the lake left relaxed. The one that enjoyed the lake also spent a lot less.

A camping hammock helps keep expenses down while enhancing the vacation pleasure. Tie the camping hammock to a couple of trees and let the world go by. Isn’t that what a vacation is for anyway?

An Eagles Nest Hammock can make weekends at home more fun

Deciding that you will spend a long weekend at home and have a camping hammock to make it seem more like vacation can be the most difficult part of the plan.  The other difficult part is staying away from the honey do tasks. However, if you want to spend time in a vacation type environment with your spouse it doesn’t work as well if you still spend a lot of time with honey do lists, house cleaning or work related items. Also shut the cell phone off if possible.

There are many camping hammocks that work at home. An Eagles Nest hammock works great when traveling because it rolls into a small ball that saves luggage space. When you pitch the camping hammock at home have it if possible where privacy is possible. That way if you have a double camping hammock and your spouse joins you the neighbors will not bother you.

I have written several articles recently on spending time alone with just your spouse without breaking the bank. The suggestions included spending time either at a campground or better yet in a remote site where no one is likely to come. The idea is to spend a little time without interruptions form the commercial world. The only problem with the suggestions is not everyone wants to spend the night in a camping tent.

Another suggestion is to spend the time at home. Don’t do any honey do tasks or even clean the house. A camping hammock works great to relax in and maybe play some cards or another game with your spouse. Granted this suggestion doesn’t work as great if you have children.

A camping hammock can help you unwind

While running a resort I found that there were many different types of vacation ideas. My resort was on a lake so that was the attraction for many. Others wanted to see the local sites and tourist traps. They would stop in to get ideas on where to go and spend the rest of the week doing it. The other big group would just take it easy by playing cards, spending time at the beach or in some cases enjoying a camping hammock.

I am a big believer in not chasing around the entire vacation. Many times the best part of any vacation is the quiet time that contrasts to the hectic life style we normally live. Not that a little chasing is bad but just not all week. The generation older than me was good at that. I suspect that is one reason they expanded our life expectancy.

Camping hammocks are best tied next to a scenic spot

I recently wrote an article about the value of quiet time while on vacation. There are of course many ways to do that but camping hammocks work well The idea is really do something you enjoy and maybe get a little bored.  I would suggest that you tie your camping hammock to trees next to a body of water. The waves will relax your faster than being nest to something you are used to.

Other great locations for camping hammocks are in the mountains overlooking a valley. The view again will cause you to unwind fairly fast. Actually there are many other scenic places the work and the natural beauty is an extra bonus.

A camping hammock can reduce stress

Think about a tropical island and what comes to mind. For those of us who live in the northern climate sunshine and warm weather rank high. The second thought is shade trees and camping hammocks that are tied to them. Why is it that we think of camping hammocks? Almost everyone loves a slow day near the water and listening to the waves as we unwind from our daily schedules.

That is one reason I can never understand why anyone would want to spend all their vacation running to tourist traps. Very few people actually spend the winter dreaming about getting tossed about in the hot sun. Not that there is anything wrong with most tourist traps if that is what you want. Just don’t do it the entire vacation. Spending time in a camping hammock keeps us from needing a vacation when we get home.
