Use solar power to power your electronic toys

Boy scouts say be prepared. What does that mean and how does that apply to your life? It might mean other things as well but one thing is it means you should have a backup plan for what reasonably could go wrong. Electronic toys come into that category. For example if you need your computer, IPod or cell phone what do you do if the power fails?

A Camping solar panel is an option if you need your electronic toys at all times. They can keep a battery charged and you can use them when you need to. There are people that feel you should be able to survive a few days without them, but if you need electronic toys then it doesn’t hurt to have a backup plan.

Teach your children how to use a compass

It is always fun to teach your children or grandchildren something new.  Their enthusiasm for new knowledge makes them fun to be around and watch. Does this mean they want to learn math on a camping trip? Of course not. What it means they want to do things that are fun and something different than what they already know. Not that you could teach most of them math anyway,

A Brunton compass can be just the thing to teach them how to find things in the wilderness. You don’t actually have to leave hiking trails if you don’t want to just let them determine what direction they should go and where different directions are. A digital compass has the advantage of being something they are used to
