It can be common to bring a broom from home to sweep your camping tent before breaking camp. The trouble with that is you will forget it once and a while and either have to borrow one or buy a broom if you want to have a clean tent for next time. I have a suggestion that could help resolve the problem. When buying camping tent accessories get the tent accessory kit from Chinook and leave it with your camping tent.

I do remember when camping tent accessories consisted of a wooden center tent pole and wooden stakes. I thought it was a great improvement when I got a camping tent with outside poles. The center tent pole used valuable tent space that I no longer could afford to give up. That is what having children do to you. Plastic tent stakes were a great improvement and lasted longer than the wooden tent stakes of yesteryear.
However, there is one thing that hasn’t changed and it is the requirement that the camper use their common sense. You need to keep your equipment in top condition to make your camping experience the best it can be.
There are many camping tent accessories a person can spend your money on. Like everything else you need to make sure it will benefit you before spending your money on it. A tent floor protector does have the potential to save you more than it costs. The reason is it is supposed to reduce the wear on the tent floor thus making your camping tent last longer.
I recently heard some campers think it should be inside the tent instead of underneath the camping tent. There might be some value to it but I think you would have a tendency to trip on the protector and kids would be even worse.
Camping tents today come with plastic stakes leaving the new owner to eventually get new stakes. I was in a couple of sporting goods stores and although they carried plastic tent stakes they carried more aluminum or steel tent stakes. Since plastic tent stakes need replacing faster it occurred to me that most buyers want the longer lasting metal tent stakes.
Camping tent accessories are something that people learn to get what works best for them. I think tent manufactures should spend a little more and have metal tent stakes included.
Camping tent accessories are not an item that we normally think of when we think of camping gear. Unless of course we remember that we has an issue with one of them last time and now it is an emergency. For example we broke some of our plastic tent stakes and didn’t think of buying steel stakes. The problem is we are going to have trouble finding steel tent stakes at the last minute.
That is why I always suggest taking and inventory of these small items as you pack them away. Then when it is time order you’re missing pieces. Taking an inventory when breaking camp is a good way to avoid losing small camping tent accessories.
